Beyaz Kaos | White Out
A meteorological phenomenon in the arctic desert: the ground white, snow-covered, the sky coloured in an icy grey and the sunlight dimmed so that a difference between top and bottom is hard to make out. The sky and ground blend and let the horizon line dissolve. For the ones inside it feels like floating, being on the search for the horizon, a reference point in the emptiness of the infinitely expanding space, the white chaos.
It is the search for your own way, for your own identity in such a chaos and nothingness of opportunities and determinants mankind has been concerned with ever since.
In the exhibition "Beyaz Kaos | White Out" Cassandra Mehlhorn and Eva Liedtjens show contemporary positions of eight well-established and upcoming artists with Turkish origins. Their works are individual approaches to everyone's search for identity, possible role models and forms of socialisation. How the “mother's home | house” and “father's state”, as their personally chosen determinants, evoke and shape such a “Beyaz Kaos | White Chaos” can be seen and experienced in the exhibition.
